Andy Krino
[email protected] Andy Krino grew up in the town of Williamston, Michigan. His parents encouraged intimacy with the landscape and all that the richly cultivated area of south central Michigan had to offer. It was here that he began to see that nowhere does the land change as quickly as in farm country. “Things come and go in a flurry of color and light and texture. You may recognize it with all of your senses and remember it forever.” Andy graduated in 1993 and accepted a scholarship to study art at Grand Valley State University. There he completed a study abroad program in both France and England and received a BFA in 1997. He currently owns his own company specializing in custom interior and exterior design, site and building planning, residential contracting, carpentry and artisan fabrication. Some of his craft has been featured in Publications such as Better Homes and Gardens and Mother Earth News. His artwork was represented by LaFontsee Galleries of Grand Rapids from 1999-2017 and is a part of many public and private collections around the Midwest. Andy, his wife Traci, and sons Arlo and Eli, moved to Cedarville, Michigan in the fall of 2017. Here he continues to translate the local landscape onto paper, board and canvas but has also found joy in practicing non-representation color studies, juxtaposing small natural objects in starkly refined shadow boxes as well as building custom furniture. |
